Coral - Psychologist at Giro Sotogrande
Nice to meet you! My name is Coral and although it sounds like the sea, I have never been very clear if I am more of a beach or mountain person, so I decided to keep the best of each :).
I live next to the countryside, and that has taught me to adapt to changes of pace: sometimes the terrain is dry and easy to walk, other times it gets muddy and you have to move more slowly. My dog, Chloe, usually leads the way. While she explores every corner, I observe that life —and therapy— have a lot of that: walking, looking around and deciding which way to direct our effort to keep moving forward (how easy it is to say!).
I believe that walking with someone is not going ahead or pointing out the destination. For me, it is more like looking into the other person's world and looking from there, to understand what moves them, where to, who we count on on each side, and what may be ahead that makes it difficult to advance.
I have often asked myself what I would be if I weren't a psychotherapist. I would be behind a stove without a doubt!! Thinking about what ingredients I have, playing with textures, going to the market, thinking about what flavors I feel like that day, putting love into it without it having to turn out perfect. For me, it is a way of connecting with the simple or making it as complex as I can think of, with the beauty of the process, with improvisation or with the methodical if I so decide. Being able to share it is the icing on the cake. With others or with myself. Or with Chloe, who is always attentive in case I drop something on the floor ;).
I believe this approach is something that also happens in therapy sessions: presence, care for the details important to the person, understanding the process and how the "ingredients" are "cooked", what stew each one wants to savor or what forgotten jar of spices can give that unique touch to each dish.
If you want to know a little more, I invite you to send me a message by WhatsApp, email or call me (my contact details are at the bottom of the page).
